Come join the fun as
Pack 846 holds its 7th Annual Paper Airplane Derby on
Friday, January 18th, 2007 - 7:00 pm at Meadowview
Elementary.
Scouts will be given a
packet of material from which they will have 8 minutes to crease, fold,
bend or tear into their creation. Scouts of similar ranks will compete
in two competitions:
- Distance - Each Scout will launch their plane on
the airfield, the one that goes the farthest. All distances will be
measured from the starting line to the point where the plane first
touches the runway - not to the final resting place if it slides.
Planes that do not land on the runway area will forfeit that
attempt. Each Scout has up to two heats with winners competing among
their rank to determine the winner for each rank.
- Accuracy - Scouts will launch their planes
attempting to sail their plane through a hoop. During each
elimination round the hoop will be placed farther and farther away.
Dens will compete in heats with the winners competing among their
rank to determine the winner for each rank.
We'll have trophies for
the winners in each categories and each Scout who participates will
receive a patch for the event.
